Kents Hill and Monkston Parish Council serves the residential areas of Kents Hill, Monkston and Monkston Park and the industrial & shopping areas of Brinklow and Kingston. The Council, together with its Clerk, deals with local issues of concern to residents. The Parish Councillors are unpaid, they all live within the Parish of Kents Hill and Monkston and they meet in the small hall (enter from the playing field side) at Monkston Pavilion, St. Bartholomews, or at the meeting room at the Kents Hill Church of Christ the King. About seven meetings are planned each year, however, sometimes extra meetings are convened for special reasons.
Included in your Council Tax bill is an amount shown as 'Parish Purposes', and you may be wondering why you have to pay it. This Precept is money which will be spent by the Parish Council during the next financial year. This includes a budget for grants to part-fund projects for local organisations. If your organisation is interested in applying, please contact the Parish Clerk for an application form.
The Parish Council, each year takes on a number of projects, and these, together with the employment of our clerk, is where the money is spent.
At the Parish Council meetings there is an opportunity for members of the public to raise issues and give opinions on various matters. The Council also takes these opportunities to invite guest speakers and experts on particular issues. This is a chance to hear about local matters at first hand.
The Parish Council try to remain transparent in all it's work, and to that end publish 4 or 5 newsletters each year.
